Born in 1977 in Évora, Portugal. Lives and works in the United Kingdom. Edgar Martins grew up in Macau, China where he published his first novel. In 1996, he completed a BA in Photography at the London Institute, followed by a Master’s in Fine Art and Photography at the Royal College of Art (UK). He is currently a doctoral candidate at the University of South Wales. His work is included in various collections around the world, such as at the V&A (London), the National Science and Media Museum (Bradford), RIBA (London), the Dallas Museum of Art; Museu Calouste Gulbenkian (Lisbon), MAAT (Lisbon), Fondation Carmignac (Paris), and MAST (Bologna). His first book won the RCA Society and Thames & Hudson ArtBook Prize and won several prestigious prizes for his work. Edgar Martins was selected to represent Macao (China) at the 54th Venice Biennale.
