Born in 1958 in Brussels, Belgium. Jean Claude Wouters has lived and worked in Brussels, Paris, Tokyo, Italy, Dubai, and Los Angeles. He studied drawing from an early age, then Ballet, film, and various performing arts. In his career as an artist, he has shown an intense sensitivity to the nature of body and spirit.
After studying and dancing with Maurice Béjart and Lindsay Kemp in the late 70’s, Wouters started to work as a performing artist, and as an independent filmmaker. His work has been selected by the British Film Institute, the Director Fortnight section at the Cannes Film Festival in 1981 (Brian Eno-Music for Films), and received several awards in international film festivals. Jean Claude Wouters has exhibited in various galleries around the world. Photos of his “Unknown” series were recently shown at the PhotoBrussels Festival 02 (2017).
