L'amoureuse is a poignant autobiographical story, a cathartic creation that narrates the loss of a loved one and the father of her son. 'T., my lover, the father of my son, passed away on April 5, 2010, due to a stroke. He fell next to us on a beach by the North Sea. The violence of his death left me facing a great void... a silence that echoed in my head, accompanied by the intense blue sky of the absence of airplanes due to the ashes of an angry volcano, my anger. Faced with this loss, I immersed myself in my daily diary, which I have been keeping for over 10 years, where I recorded my suffering but also the overflow of life that was boiling within me,' the artist writes.

Drawings, handwritten or typed notes, hospital labels... and photos fill this book, which is read while embraced by emotion. It was a beautiful and profound love, and their little boy was 6 years old. The child says, 'You know, Mom, today is a very special day. It's the first day of my life without Dad. We'll see if it's going to be better or worse.'

As you turn the pages, the silent and sensual photographs, with their velvety blacks, the artist's signature style, transport us between horror, loneliness, and beauty. Also, take note of these naked self-portraits that Anne De Gelas creates as a tribute to lost love and the encounter of bodies. The depth of the images resonates with the sadness of the narrative. Even though this book helped her navigate grief, it's not a book about death but rather about love. A treasure to be added to your library without hesitation, for more love and tenderness."
