Portraits - PBF02 / Pierre Gonnord
17 November 2017 - 19 January 2018
Pierre Gonnord’s incomparable recent work has grown into a whole lifestyle: he always travels on back roads, looking out for characters who belong to social groups with a strong cultural identity.
He engages, lives, and works with tribes and clans, but above all, with individuals who are remote from our urban landscape in the age of globalisation and therefore doomed to disappear. His portraits are a powerful and dignified celebration of the nobility of the human condition, inviting us to feel what unites us. Time and again, we are amazed to see the points of view of their young people, gypsies, and farmers. They are eyewitnesses and protagonists in our modern world, reflecting for us what the photographer refers to as ‘our shared humanity’.
