“Loving Earth” - PBF01
18 November 2016 - 18 January 2017

The inaugural PhotoBrussels Festival (previously Photo18 Festival) took place from November 18th, 2016 to January 18th, 2017, in Brussels. "Loving Earth", the first edition, explored the link between humankind and the Earth, through the lenses of landscape photographers.

As a source of inspiration, the Earth fascinates us. The realisation that it is both loved and betrayed by mankind generates fresh questioning of the relations between nature, culture, and power. A selection of 18 Belgian and International artists who, for the most part, were never shown in Brussels before, was exhibited over nearly the 1000m2 of Hangar. They were chosen for their aesthetic or experimental approach and the pertinence of the point of view they contribute to the theme, whether they were promising beginners or confirmed photographers.
